    What is Air Carrom?

Air Carrom is new table game that began as a hobby six years ago. In 2018 the first and only working prototype was completed, with design and gameplay inspired by some of the worlds most popular games, namely pool, snooker, air hockey and carrom.

Like carrom, you sit down at an Air Carrom table to play and flick discs on the playfield with the aim of potting them into the corner pockets. The rules and gameplay are simple and easy to learn, making Air Carrom suitable for everyone to play, regardless of age, stature or ability.

The table has been designed to provide an ample amount of leg room for seating and for wheelchair users.

With its distinctive retro style design, Air Carrom will look great in any games room and only requires half the space necessary for a pool table.

    The Table

The Air Carrom table is ideal for commercial and home use thanks to its durable, low maintenance and practical design. A standard table seats 2 players.

High quality materials are used in the construction of the table including:

    • 18mm (3/4 inch) thick birch plywood for the chassis and outer panelling
    • Glass clear acrylic sheet and a 25mm (1 inch) thick substrate for the playfield
    • 6000 series anodised aluminium rebounds
    • Industrial grade fan with variable speed control

A lot of care and consideration has gone into the design of the table, the width was chosen to enable players to reach beyond the middle of the table whilst seated, the pockets are a generous size and the pocket liners have rounded edges for safe, easy access.

The LED displays are tilted upwards for improved visibility and the legs are fitted with height adjusters to ensure a level playfield.

The playfield artwork can be replaced and also be customised with an image of your choice!

    No table legs, no problem!
Play Air Carrom and have a cool coffee table at the same time.

    BAR TABLE

Play Air Carrom standing or on a bar chair.

    How it works

An Air Carrom table works in a similar way to air hockey. A precisely calibrated fan within the table, beneath the playfield, generates a constant flow of air that exits out of tiny holes, these tiny jets of air (there are 2,397 of them on a 2 player table!) allow the discs to glide across the surface much further and faster than they would without air assistance, but also allows the discs to come to a complete stop. Discs travel in straight lines without deviation adding to the enjoyment and competitiveness of the game.

Two operating modes available, payment and non payment.

To start the fan on a payment operated table, simply add credits to select the amount of time you want the fan to run for, then press the green start button.

The coin, token and banknote readers enable players to extend the playing time during a game.

For non payment operated tables, just press the start button and the fan will run for a preset amount of time (the factory preset can be changed).

Any remaining air time is clearly displayed on upto 3 LED readouts.

A lockable service door panel keeps cash and electronics safe, non payment tables can be fitted with either a plain or a blanked service door.

    How to play

Air Carrom is social game and is best played between 2 or more players.

    1. Place the discs in a cluster formation on the table, the blue disc going in the centre circle. The discs across the centre of the cluster shall be aligned parallel with a base line. The red and green discs are known as the object discs.
    2. A player will play a break off shot by placing the white striker disc (the striker) anywhere along their base line and flicking the striker at the cluster to break it. The striker must contact the cluster and afterward contact any rebound to count as a valid break.
    3. Players will take it in turns to shoot the striker from their respective base lines and when a disc is potted, that player will continue their turn until they fail to pot a disc. Then it is the next players turn.
    4. If a blue disc is potted, it will be returned to the playfield anywhere on the outer circle, when no more object discs are left on the table the last blue is potted to end the game.
    5. When a player fails on their turn to pot a disc and the striker becomes stationary on the next players red line, the next player shall take their shot from wherever the striker came to rest on their respective red line.
    6. Potting the striker is a foul shot and play is passed immediately to the next player.

    7 disc cluster

All players pot the same colour. Red = 1 point | Blue = 3 points

    19 disc cluster

Players pot their own colour. No points, just be the first to pot all of your colours and the blue.

    The Discs

Air Carrom cannot be played without the discs, and each table comes with a pack of 24 discs, including spares discs. Disc sets are packed in a small tube container, they are made from a tough, impact resistant plastic and can be acquired from over the counter or from a vending machine.

Each disc contains a small metal strip so they can be picked up off the floor, for example, a wheelchair user could use a telescopic magnet for easy reach.

A 24 pack of discs contains:

2 strikers, 2 blue discs, 10 red discs, 10 green discs
    Diameter: 50mm | Height: 4mm | Weight: 4g
